How To Make A Gravity Bong (Homemade Gravity Bong)

How To Make A Gravity Bong

Hello again. Sacramento Dabber here with another stoner tutorial for you. This time we’re talking about how to make a gravity bong. It’s really simple to make and you can use things that you most likely already have lying around your house. By the way, you should probably clean up. And call your mom more often, dude. Anyway, if you don’t have any glass to smoke out of, and you don’t have time to head over to Glass Nation and jump on some of their awesome deals, a homemade gravity bong will do just fine. Also, all you need is a bottle, a bigger bottle, and some water. Well, along with something to smoke.

Getting Started: Find The Right Bottle

When it comes to how to make a gravity bong, one thing is key. Finding the right bottle. The bottle is most important because it’s both where the bowl you’ll be smoking and your mouth will be going. You’ll want it to be small enough for you to get your lips over, but not so small that it restricts airflow. You want to find something like a large water bottle or a two-liter soda bottle. You’ll also have to find a slightly bigger container to hold the water. It should be slightly shorter than the bottle so you don’t end up with water in your mouth when you hit it. Nothing worse than an unexpected mouthful of water. Or anything else, for that matter.

Fill Up Your Homemade Gravity Bong

Now that you’ve got yourself a bottle and a water container, it’s time to get the bottle ready to dunk.  What you want to do is poke a hole in the bottle with a sharp knife, near the bottom. Then, use a pair of scissors to cut the bottom of the bottle off, leaving a flat, open hole. Get rid of the cap. It’s thick plastic and you don’t want to risk heating that up while you’re inhaling something. Now it’s time to fill up your bucket/bathtub/salad bowl/whatever you decided would be your water container. Place the bottle in the container with the water and make sure there is some room for air at the top. So, you know how to make a gravity bong. Now it’s time to make a bowl!

Make A Bowl For Your Gravity Bong

Here is where gravity bongs vary from individual to individual. The way I learned to make a bowl for a gravity bong was to just shove some aluminum foil in the mouthpiece of the bottle. Poke a few holes in it, fill it with herb and call it a day. Now that I’m a little older I’ve realized that maybe smoking off of aluminum foil isn’t such a great idea. I’m not telling anyone how to live their life. You have to work with what you got. However, for the sake of my health, the bowl for this homemade gravity bong was made from a heat-resistant silicone wax container and a mini glass chillum a friend of mine gave me. Super simple setup, and once you know how to make a gravity bong, the bowl is a sinch.

Attach The Bowl & Light It Up

Whichever bowl style you decided to go with for your homemade gravity bong, it’s now time to attach it to your bottle setup. It’s important that you use something that is fairly simple to remove quickly because you’ll need to be able to remove the bowl to take the hit. Also, an important thing to remember is to always put the bottle in the water BEFORE you attach and fill your bowl. You’ll want water inside the bottle before you put the bowl on so that the bowl makes a seal, otherwise, the whole “gravity” part won’t work and you’ll look totally lame, bro. Now light it up, let’s make some clouds!

Using Your New Homemade Gravity Bong

Using a gravity bong can be a tricky thing to learn at first. The key is to light the bowl and slowly lift the bottle at the same time. When you lift the bottle, the water tries to escape through the bottom. The bowl makes a seal, so the water dropping pulls air through the bowl. Add a little bit of fire to that equation and you’ve got yourself a genuine homemade gravity bong, my friend! Always remember to pull up slowly. Pulling up too quickly can thin out your hit. What you want to see is thick, milky, almost yellow clouds of smoke pouring into your piece. These things are made for huge hits, after all.

Make The Bong, Take The Hit

I’ve been there before. You just figured out how to make a gravity bong. You’re excited to use it. You fill up the bowl and light it. Then, as you watch the thick milky hit fill the bong, you think to yourself “This was a bad idea.” But you’re wrong. This was a great idea. Keep filling it up and let’s see how high we can go. Now that your handmade piece is senselessly filled with thick, slightly stale smoke, it’s time to take off the bowl and kiss your lungs goodbye. Once the bowl is off, press your lips to the mouthpiece of the bottle and push it back down into the water. This will force all of the smoke into your lungs, sending you into the stratosphere.

Please be advised that a homemade gravity bong often takes quite a few seconds to fill up, so the smoke can get a bit stale while it sits. It’s still gonna fuck you up, but it’s also probably going to make you cough so hard you’ll ask yourself if it was worth it. It was. Give it time. It definitely was.

Change Up The Game

Now that you know how to make a gravity bong, nothing can stop you. There are endless combinations of containers, bottles, herbs, concentrates, etc. Maybe you want to use a twenty-gallon water cooler jug and your swimming pool. I wouldn’t recommend it, because of the chlorine, but as I mentioned earlier, I am no squasher of dreams. Maybe you want to take a little herb, a little wax, and a little more herb and make a lasagna bowl. Do it and light it up, broski. I share your passion for life and accept you for who you are. Getting baked is not just for pies anymore. Live a little.
